1. Definitions
Customer: The person(s) purchasing goods or services from City Carpets & Flooring.

Company: Refers to City Carpets & Flooring.

Contractor: Self-employed floor layer assigned to carry out installation.

Goods: The flooring products or materials described on the invoice.

Contract: The agreement between the customer and the company for goods and/or services.

2. Ownership of Goods
All goods remain the property of City Carpets & Flooring until full payment is received. In the event of non-payment, we reserve the right to enter the premises and recover any goods supplied.

3. Quotes & Orders
Quotes are valid for 30 days.

Any changes to measurements, materials, or job scope may require a revised quote.

The company may make minor changes to meet safety regulations or improve product performance, without notice.

4. Payment Terms
Full payment is due on the day of delivery or fitting, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

Fitting fees paid directly to subcontracted installers must be settled on the day of completion.

We accept bank transfer, card, or cash.

5. Late or Non-Payment
In cases of late or non-payment:

  • Interest may be charged at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.
  • Customers are liable for all reasonable debt recovery, court, or legal costs incurred.
  • Legal action may be taken, and repossession of goods will be pursued where ownership has not transferred.

6. Cancellations
If an order is cancelled before goods are delivered or cut, a 30% charge will apply to cover handling and admin costs.

Once goods are cut, ordered, or delivered, cancellations are not permitted.

If the company cancels due to events beyond its control (e.g., supplier failure), a full refund of any deposit will be issued.

7. Furniture & Room Preparation
Customers must clear all furniture and personal belongings from the fitting area before installation.

If our fitters are required to move furniture, a charge will apply based on time, size, and access conditions. This charge is assessed case by case and added to the final invoice.

The company accepts no liability for damage to furniture, décor, or personal items not removed or protected in advance.

8. Liability & Property Damage
City Carpets & Flooring is not liable for:

  • Damage to hidden pipes, wiring, or underfloor systems unless their location is marked and provided in writing before fitting.
  • Minor scuffs or marks to walls, skirting, doors, or décor during installation.
  • Damage to items left in the fitting area or caused by pre-existing floor issues or weak subfloors.
  • Issues resulting from third-party trades or unauthorised alterations after fitting.

We recommend protecting valuables and removing fragile items in advance.

9. Customer-Supplied Materials (Fitting Only Jobs)
If materials are provided by the customer:

  • We are not responsible for faults, defects, or incorrect sizing.
  • If the materials are unsuitable or incomplete, delays or additional charges may apply.
  • Installation will proceed at the customer’s risk and no warranty will apply to the supplied product.

10. Product Details & Shading
Pile carpets may show shading or watermarking during use. This is a natural feature of textile pile and not a defect.

Colour variation may occur between samples and supplied products.

Carpet widths may vary slightly in line with British Standard BS 3655 tolerance of ±1.25%.

11. Installation & Additional Work
All fitting is completed to industry standards. A 12-month workmanship warranty is provided.

Subfloor preparation, door trimming, or unforeseen work may incur additional costs if not included in the original quote.

We are not responsible for delays due to poor access, customer availability, or site issues.

12. Delays & Force Majeure
While every effort is made to meet deadlines, we are not liable for delays caused by weather, traffic, illness, supplier issues, or other factors beyond our control.

No compensation will be paid for such delays.

13. Cleaning & Maintenance
We recommend carpets be professionally cleaned.

Dry cleaning methods only should be used on woven carpets (e.g., Wiltons, Axminsters) to prevent shrinkage or distortion.

14. Marketing & Photographs
We may take photographs of completed work for use in marketing, social media, and our portfolio.

If you do not consent, please inform us in writing before work begins.

15. Statutory Rights
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights under UK law.

16. Agreement to Terms
By paying a deposit, the customer confirms they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
This forms a legally binding contract between the customer and City Carpets & Flooring.
